Newspoetry Weather

Outside there is an 18 inch blanket
Of snow. I woke up at 7 A.M. and
Trudged through it. At the Jewel, I
Got five of the last oranges and
Enough coffee to keep me writing
For a week. The city seems
Tranquil and surreal now, there
Is a strange sense of peace on this
Sunday when almost everything is
Shut down and there is nowhere
For anyone to go. I think I'll
Write until 6 P.M. or so then
Walk down to Jean's, have two
Steins of Old Style, and talk
To my neighbors, about the snow.
